Cyprus is an island steeped in history with a rich cultural heritage. Visitors to Cyprus have an overwhelming choice of ancient monuments and archaeological sites to visit, particularly in Paphos, which has been included in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage sites.

Among its attractions are its ancient mosaic floors, its beautiful old harbour as well as its popular restaurants, situated along the seaside promenade. Other sights include an archaeological museum, the Byzantine castle of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paul’s Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite.

Limassol’s medieval castle now serves as a museum, while the Archaeological Museum provides a very interesting collection of antiquities, dating from the Neolithic to the Roman Ages. The Folk Art Museum is beautifully preserved old house which provides a very interesting collection of Cypriot Folk Art of the last two centuries.

Limassol’s Public Garden also has a small zoo to provide an extra attraction. A relaxing place to walk, the garden displays a great variety of vegetation: eucalyptus trees, pine trees and cypresses. For a different stroll, there is a bike path and walkway along the coast, mostly along the beachfront. Inline skating is also popular along this trail.

Cyprus offers the diver warm, crystal clear, azure water with a rich and diverse variety of sea creatures, flora and fauna, all located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Mediterranean sea. The "Zenobia", an enormous sunken ferry, which according to experts is one of the best wrecks to dive in the world. Cyprus offers it's guests diving locations of astonishing natural beauty, such as submarine grottoes, submerged caves and a thousand other wonders of life below the surface.

Cyprus is famous for its underwater caves, but Paphos with its stony seabed is the underwater jewel of the island. The "Amphitheatre" with its terraces is only accessible to divers, underwater currents over thousands of years eroded the cave roof, finally bringing it down uncovering three ring shaped walls, 10-12 meters high. Dive only 12 meters below the surface and the feature and its dwellers, such as shells and shoals of quick moving fish in all the colours of rainbow, will appear in front of you.

If you prefer dry land to the ocean depths, try walking or biking in the island’s two very best walking regions - the rugged, pine-clad Troodos Mountains with their rocky, terraced slopes, and the more Mediterranean landscapes of the Akamas Peninsula. Here you will get close to the island’s natural beauty, with flowers, Alpine valleys and views that stretch as far as the coast, to frescoed churches and traditional hamlets.

With its fabulous beaches and clear blue water, South Cyprus offers a host of choices in water sports and activities. Jet ski, speedboat, parasailing, glass-bottomed boats, water ski, windsurfing are all readily available.

If you like more speed, The Paphos Go Karting Centre is great fun, offering a 1600 metre track where you can choose from bambino karts, cadet karts, pro karts, super Karts, twin engine or thunder karts. It has a bridge and tunnel track. There is even a track for children.

The Tsada Golf course is set in the grounds of a 12th Century monastery. Other excellent courses include the Secret Valley golf course, which is located within close proximity of the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love, at Petra tou Romiou. This course is set in a lovely scenic valley with lots of trees and strange and unusual rock formations. Aphrodite Hills is a short drive from Paphos in a beautiful setting of olive and carob trees.

With all that you find to do in Cyprus, don’t forget to eat! For this is a special experience on this island endowed with delicious produce. Delicious Yemista, stuffed tomatoes, peppers - you name it, for starters; souvla and shieftalies from the grill; mousakas; fresh fish or the classic Cyprus Meze (too many dishes to count!).
